Revolutionary Weekend 2006
The American Historical Theatre Presents: Kim Hanley as Belle McCloskey
Kim is an actor, dancer, and singer who has loved history all her life. Initially trained as a ballet dancer in New York, Kim’s resume includes appearances with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet companies, as well as appearing in the first National Tour of the musical "She Loves Me." In Philadelphia, she has appeared at the Media Theatre (Rockwell Productions) with Storybook Musical Theatre for young audiences and most recently with Bristol Riverside in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Kim holds her BFA degree from the State University of New York at F.I.T. in the Restoration and History of Decorative Arts. She was discovered by the American Historical Theatre when appearing in short historical dramatic presentations in Independence National Park. Since then she has made a study of Betsy Ross, Philadelphia seamstress, upholsterer and flag maker, enabling her to make numerous appearances for AHT. She has appeared regularly at the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia. Kim also portrays Abigail Adams, the out-spoken wife of John Adams and mother to John Quincey Adams as well as Molley Pitcher, Revolutionary War heroine at the Battle of Monmouth.
Kim is also an expert costume designer for Mount Vernon and other historical venues. She fences, rides, and performs regularly with several a cappella music ensembles.
